5 Habits To Form This 2010

Posted on January 11th, 2010 in Anti Aging, Brightening, Contest, Fragrance, SPF, Tools and Storage

Resolutions whether big or small takes a lot of will to perform and a little timing to succeed. The beauty about starting the calendar year is having the latter as a luxury and of course, having the perfect excuse to replenish one’s boudoir. I know you already have a lot of resolutions but these beauty recommendations must be on top of your list. Seriously.

1. Wear SPF both indoors and outdoors.
Is it just me or even glossies say this at least once in every published issue for the past year? There’s a very good reason why we play like broken records — fine lines, sun spots, and premature aging. EEEK!

Product to try: my HG SPF and makeup primer in one, Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Complete UV Waterlight Lotion SPF 50+ PA+++, Php 460

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Complete UV Waterlight Lotion SPF 50+ PA+++. Superior ultra-lightweight protection lotion against UV and environmental aggressors for healthy, beautifully radiant skin. With breakthrough Helioplex that works like an invisible shield for skin by effectively blocking out harmful UVA/UVB rays and helping neutralize free radical damage. Skin is provided with superior protection against darkening and signs of premature aging. Fluid texture to give you fresh, ultra light feel. Combined with Dry Touch Technology for a non-oily and non-sticky texture, you can spread it on smoothly to a clean and non-shiny finish.

Instructions for use: Use at the end of your skincare routine after moisturizer as a superior daily blocker. Suitable for use as a makeup base. Shake well before use.

2. Ditch your ratty makeup applicators and replace them with oh so luxe brushes.
Just because they are far more hygienic than sponges, more economical in the long run (granted you take care of them well, they will definitely outlive your eye shadows and blushes), and they pic up products way better.

Products to try:

Charm Luxe Kabuki, Php 580

Charm Luxe Kabuki is perfect for buffing in mineral makeup, loose powder, or mineral finishing powder. It’s made of synthetic, vegan hair. So soft, that it glides like velvet on the skin! It comes with a pouch that you can bring your Luxe Kabuki anywhere, without the mess! The pouch can also house one minipot, so it can be your smallest kikay kit!

Charm Luxe Retractable Kabuki, Php 500

For girls on the go who love stuffing their stuffs in their bag, the Charm Luxe Retractable Kabuki is the perfect travel companion, and perfect trophy makeup item in your bag! Like the Charm Luxe Kabuki, the Luxe Retractable Kabuki is made of synthetic, vegan hair, that glides like velvet no matter how much you buff it on your skin!

Henri Calayag’s Makeup Deluxe Brush Set, Php 1995

I’ve been using this roster for nearly three months and I can truly say that these brushes are worth checking out (and giving away as gorgeous gifts even).  Because almost all of them are synthetic haired (save for the pencil point brush), I never felt that icky, scratchy feel on my face. The brushes glide oh so smoothly on my primed skin. Zero hair shedding and bleeding:  I guess that’s fate gently telling me that I’ll be traveling with these brushes for years and years.

3. Get at least 8 hours of sleep…or cheat it!
If sleep can be bought in replacement of the actual activity, (then) consider me a hoarder. :] Since that’s impossible, all we can do is to bank on products that fake a good night’s rest and boost our skin’s overall health in the long run.

Products to try (I’m so hooked on this line!): Avon ANEW Rejuvenate Line

Introducing, the ANEW REJUVENATE skincare line that is clinically proven to deliver the anti-aging results of a professional facial for skin that looks young and fresh all day, everyday.

Stress and environmental factors like the sun make your skin look tired and older.  And usually, women rely on a professional anti-aging facial to bring back their skin’s youthful, fresh look.  However, a professional anti-aging facial is very expensive.

Compared to a professional anti-aging facial spa, Anew Rejuvenate is:

Affordable
Anew Rejuvenate is more affordable compared to a facial spa that costs around P2,000 – 3,000 per visit.

Convenient
Women do not need to go to the dermatologist or facial skin care centers. Anew Rejuvenate provides professional anti-aging results right where you are, whenever you need it.

A Daily Treatment
Anew Rejuvenate is a daily skin care regimen that enables women to achieve young and fresh looking skin all day, everyday.

Comparable or Even Superior than Anti-aging Facials
In just 3 days, Anew Rejuvenate reduces the look of lines and wrinkles, smoothens skin and refines the appearance of pore size and tone.

In just 7 days, 100% showed an improvement in skin texture and 77% showed less pore clogging. In 8 weeks, skin will look up to 5 years younger.

Anew Rejuvenate’s exclusive technologies replicate the steps of a professional facial spa:

STEP 1: EXFOLIATION:
Deep cleans to smoothen tough texture, lessen appearance of deep lines.

Exfo-Smoothing Complex stimulates the EXFOLIATION step to reveal smoother skin texture & lessen the appearance of deep lines

STEP 2: EXTRACTION: Brings out impurities from the pores, helps shrink pores, refine complexion.

Mini-Extraction Technology Complex replicates the EXTRACTION step to deep clean & shrink pores

STEP 3: MOISTURIZATION:
Evens out skintone for a seamless, smoother appearance.

Facial FX Technology Complex is MOISTURIZATION that strengthens cell bonds and makes skin look smooth & even-toned.

ps. ANEW Rejuvenate Flash Facial Revitalizing Concentrate (Php 1000, 30g) is a definite must have! It’s my saving grace from all the sleepless nights and stress I get from work.

ANEW Rejuvenate Flash Facial Revitalizing Concentrate is the first intensive anti-aging treatment that literally jumpstarts your skin – to give you the fresher, younger skin of a spa anti-aging facial in a flash. The revitalizing concentrate is designed with 3X the Facial FX technology than the night cream. Anew Flash will give your skin an instant rejuvenating boost.

PROVEN RESULTS:    In just 7 days, it begins to fill in the look of fine lines, skin tone appears more even, pores seem to vanish. In 2 weeks, skin looks dramatically younger.

4. Fight acne the quick, safe, and cheap way.
Dealing with acne 13 years ago (read: when I was a teenager) was a huge pain both physically and financially. Expensive dermatologist fees, major pricking, facial downtime, peeling, and scarring were some of the things I had to bear just to get my skin clear and healthy. Lucky for young adults today, they can just go to Watsons, grab tried and tested acne buster kits, and see results almost immediately!

Products to try: Clean & Clear Active Clear line, Php 550/set

CLEAN & CLEAR® Active Clear® Acne Control Kit has 4 powerful acne-fighting products containing salicylic acid that work together to effectively help treat and prevent acne. When used twice a day, these 4 technologies are proven to work faster and more powerfully against acne:

Active Clear Acne Control Cleanser – The first step of the acne-fighting regimen goes beyond cleansing to penetrate pores. It contains bacteria-fighting salicylic acid that calms and soothes acne-irritated skin.

Active Clear Acne Control Toner – The second step is the highly functioning oil-free toner that works to reduce excess oil, which clogs pores, for effective pimple prevention. The combination of salicylic acid and natural botanical ingredients tones and balances skin.

Active Clear Acne Control Moisturizer – The third step of the regimen is the use of an oil-free moisturizer that provides a hint of moisture to soften and nourish skin, while containing a breakthrough anti-acne technology to help prevent pimples. With salicylic acid to clear and prevent acne, the natural herbal vitamin ingredients in the Active Clear Acne Control Moisturizer also nourish the skin and prevent it from drying.

Active Clear Acne Control Speed Gel – An exciting add-on to the acne-fighting regimen is a highly effective spot treatment that starts working immediately to reduce redness, pimple size and swelling in as little as 4 hours. The combination of salicylic acid and an herbal essence acne-fighting technology visibly reduces acne – fast!

5. Search for your signature scent.
Sure we all love smelling babies but smelling like one in the office or gimmick setup is a huge no-no. There are lots (that’s a gross understatement) of chic EDTs out there that will suit everyone’s chica side. Find yours stat!

Product to try: Avon Jet Femme EDT, Php 1350 (50ml)

Chill out by the beach in an exotic Caribbean island, sipping your cocktail drinks while lounging in soft music. Delight with the seduction of the cool breeze on your face as you cruise Grecian waters aboard an exclusive yacht. Laze in the tub as you enjoy the tranquil surroundings of a resort spa in Phuket.

It is this experience of indulging in jet-setting luxury which Jet Femme, Avon’s new sophisticated fragrance for women, creates in every spray.

Jet Femme, your private escape, is a radiant citrus woody blend of fresh citrus, watery florals and exotic woods. Top notes of guava, white pepper, juicy grapefruit and watermelon lead to a floral heart of jasmine petals, hibiscus and solar florals. It dries down to a luxurious base of orris, creamy amber, teakwood and captive musks, grounding the jet-setting scent.

  1. My beauty resolution this year is the same as your first one – to wear SPF everyday! I’m turning 22 next month and I’ve started to notice lines creeping up as well as obvious sun damage. Hence, the mad dash for the perfect SPF lotion/makeup base.

Aside from SPF for my face, I resolve to invest in a tinted lip balm that has SPF protection. :D

  2. Here’s mine: Get 7 to 8 hours of sleep everyday. :)

  3. My beauty resolution this year is to take care of my skin! At 26, I figure I’d better start with the anti-aging creams and emulsion so I can maintain what I have as long as I can. ;D

  4. My beauty resolution is always remove all my make-up at the end of the day and apply some night cream!

  5. what’s your beauty resolution this year? To actually use the makeup that I’ve been buying more often :D

  6. I promise to focus on skincare instead of buying more makeup to cover my skin problems. I realize that no matter how much makeup I spackle on my skin it still doesn’t look good as my canvas isn’t flawless.

  7. Stick to a beauty regimen.. and TRY not buy stuff before reading a review if its expensive :D

  8. As silly as it sounds this sounds this years beauty resolution is to always wash my face before I sleep no matter how tired or sleepy I am. While it’s practically common sense, I’m usually too lazy to do it.

  9. my beauty resolutions are to always wear sunscreen, drink tons of water, never skip eye cream, eat healthy, and stop buying makeup impulsively to save for makeup school!

  10. A beauty resolution of mine is to cold wax instead of shaving. Since I am a hairy lady, hair has been a problem and I think that waxing, despite being painful and being a hassle, is worth the extra mile if I want beautiful skin, not only on my face but on my whole body :D

  11. My beauty resolution for 2010 is to remove my makeup as soon as I get home or before I go to sleep no matter how tired (or wasted LOL) I am. :)

  12. my beauty resolution this year is to always smile… :)

  13. I’m resolving to stick to my derma regimen. I may be stressed, but my skin doesn’t have to show it!

  14. my new years resolution is to moisturize with spf every morning and HELP SMOOTH SKIN SOMEHOW after 43 yrs my face aged from acne treatments over 30 yrs… all of these items listed here would be a blessing and a huge help, I have spent so much money and RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS OF DOWN TIME TRYING to deal with the acne on my forehead/chin/nose and this is the place everyone sees first and seems to judge me from..my back has never had acne or my neck as others have issues with, just the t-zone of my face, I use tissue paper almost hourly now with powder finish, and it helps THANK YOU FOR OPPORTUNITY TO WIN ITEMS I NEED TO achieve my new look of healthier skin :~)

  15. My beauty resolution this year is to learn how to put on eye makeup. Particularly eyeshadow. :)

  16. be more diligent in using moisturizer and eye cream. i have oily skin which is why i tend to get lazy on moisturizing

  17. My beauty resolution for 2010: to stick to a good skin care regimen (cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize, SPF…) daily rather than just when i remember to. LOL.

  18. my beauty resolution would be to drink at least 8 glasses of water and to hopefully take it warm. i heard warm water is better for digestion! :D

  19. My beauty resolution this year is to religiously apply moisturizer on my face during the day and before I go to bed. I always used to say this to myself before but it was either I did not remember or I was just too lazy to put on moisturizer.

During pregnancy and after giving birth, my skin has started to go dry. I guess it had something to do with the hormones and everything. I want my old skin (I mean my skin before the pregnancy) back that’s why I vow to make the moisturizer my new bestfriend. :D

  20. Hi Ms. Phoebe.. I want to stick to a beauty regimen which I started already.. hopefully mapangatawanan ko. I tried the Belo beauty essentials, pore minimizing facial wash, toner and their day and night cream.. Sana lang umepekto sakin.. :)

  21. Mine is just simple:
    1) DRINK lots of water and EAT Healthy
    2)Cleanse
    3) Tone
    4) Moisturize

  22. this year, i will eat less meat and more veggies & fruits to have healthier skin :)

  23. mine’s to take care of myself more. that means not stressing myself too much with work, eating on time, and getting at least 7hrs of sleep everyday. and yes, a regular hair treatment and massage will do! :)

  24. This year I resolve to deep condition my hair once or twice every week :)

  25. Be less lazy in doing my evening facial routine

  32. my beauty resolution this year is to lose weight and be more healthy. I have been over weight since god knows when. I have tried all sorts of diet pills since high school and my weight has been yoyo-ing since then. I’d lose weight and then gain them back again. It definitely lowers once self esteem at one point or another no matter how much friends and family tell you that they love you regardless. I figured It’s time to do something about it since I’m not getting any younger plus I’d only be 25 once! I decided make 2010 a good year for me by finally enrolling to a gym and eating healthy foods and dieting properly instead of OD-ing myself with diet pills. I love fashion and make-up and what better way to enjoy em by being sexeh :D and fit. :D

  33. 2010 beauty resolutions:
    - drink lots and lots of water (at least 8 glasses a day)
    - clean my make up brushes more often
    - wash make up off my face as soon as i get home
    - smile more often

  34. my beauty resolution’s to drink more water. i’ve been drinking 2 glasses of water before breakfast for almost 2 weeks now and i’m planning to up it to a litre before breakfast. i hope this helps me lose weight, curb some of my appetite and make my skin less oily among other things. :)

  35. beauty resolution: put makeup everyday and clean brushes twice a week(needs major backup :D )!

    Rock on!

  36. Hi Phoebe! :)

My beauty resolution is to use up all the products that I bought before buying new ones . Using a lot of products at the same time is not only impractical (I sure spent a lot of money in 2009!) but will also make your face prone to breakouts, allergies, and irritation.

  37. my beauty resolution for this year is to have a clear skin. i’ll be 25 this year and i plan to focus on my self. been following a couple of beauty blogs to get some beauty tips. i know how hard it is to keep a good clear skin. that’s why from now on, this one will be my ultimate resolution.:)

  38. ditch all the year old make-up.. add another year in wearing mineral make-up.. and definitely go organic. ;o)

    1. Buy skin care products that I will ACTUALLY use.
    2. Get enough sleep.
    3. Stop using my fingers to force blackheads out of my nose area.
    4. ALWAYS slab on SPF before going out.
    5. Clean my brushes after every use.
    6. Moisturize! I was too lazy to put on moisturizer.
    7. Give my dermatologist a visit monthly to deep clean my face.
